✨ Exploring Both Lenses: My Journey into True Sidereal Human Design✨

About 8 years ago, I sought out my first Human Design Reading. Since then I have studied, experimented, practiced, and offered Human Design readings using Tropical astrology calculations—the system used in most Human Design software, Gene Keys, and traditional Human Design teachings.

During that time, I have witnessed profound insight, healing, and transformation emerge through this work, both in my own life and in the lives of my clients based on the original tropical calculations that the founder Ra heard and was told to utilize.

Recently, however, I stumbled upon something that completely shifted my perspective.

I discovered that there is another way to calculate the astrological foundation of a Human Design chart.

It's called True Sidereal Human Design, sometimes referred to as True Sky Human Design.

Naturally, I was intrigued.

Not because I was looking for a better system. Not because I felt something was missing. But because curiosity has always been one of my greatest teachers.

As I began exploring the differences between Tropical and True Sidereal calculations, I quickly realized that my own chart changed significantly. Gates shifted. Themes shifted. Certain aspects of my design suddenly appeared in a different light.

And the more I sat with these changes, the more I found myself asking:

What can each system teach us?

Rather than dismissing one perspective in favor of another, I became interested in exploring both.

Tropical and True Sidereal: What's the Difference?

The primary difference lies in how planetary positions are calculated.

Tropical astrology is based on the Earth's relationship to the seasons and the spring equinox. It follows the seasonal zodiac and takes into account the precession of the equinoxes. This is the system that serves as the foundation for most Western astrology, Human Design, and Gene Keys teachings.

True Sidereal astrology, by contrast, calculates the planets according to their actual astronomical locations in the sky at the moment of birth.

In simple terms:

🌎 Tropical Astrology reflects our relationship to the Earth and the seasonal cycle.

True Sidereal Astrology reflects the actual positions of the planets and constellations in the sky.

Because of the Earth's gradual wobble over thousands of years—a phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes—the two systems can produce significantly different placements.

For some people, only a few gates change.

For others, entire channels, profiles, Incarnation Cross themes, or energetic dynamics may shift.

Not Either-Or, But Both-And

One of the things I appreciate most about this discovery is that it doesn't have to become an either-or conversation.

I have deep respect for Tropical Human Design and the wisdom it has offered me over the years. At the same time, I have found the exploration of True Sidereal Human Design to be fascinating, illuminating, and surprisingly resonant.

Perhaps Tropical Human Design reflects our earthly journey, personality development, and how we navigate life through the lens of the seasonal zodiac.

Perhaps True Sidereal Human Design reveals deeper energetic themes, soul-level patterns, and perspectives connected to the actual positions of the planets in the sky.

Or perhaps both perspectives have something meaningful to offer.

The question that continues to inspire me is:

What insights become available when we allow multiple perspectives to coexist?

What new awareness emerges when we compare them side by side?

What becomes visible when we stop looking for the "right" answer and instead remain open to exploration?

The Alchemy of Multiple Perspectives

As I've reflected on this journey, I've realized that it mirrors the way I approach healing, wellness, and self-discovery as a whole.

Whether exploring Yoga, Chinese Medicine, the Five Elements, the Five Seasons, aromatherapy, Reiki, Human Design, or the 7 Stages of Alchemy, I have found that wisdom often emerges not from choosing one perspective over another, but from allowing different perspectives to inform and enrich one another.

This is one of the core themes woven throughout The Alchemy of Wellness.

Nature itself teaches us this lesson.

The body can be understood through anatomy, physiology, energy, emotion, breath, and consciousness simultaneously.

A season can be understood through weather, food, movement, emotion, and energetic shifts.

A healing journey can be viewed through science, spirituality, psychology, and lived experience.

None of these perspectives cancel each other out.

They deepen one another.

One of the questions I return to often is:

What insights become available when we allow multiple perspectives to coexist?

Rather than seeking certainty, I am interested in cultivating curiosity.

Rather than arriving at a fixed conclusion, I am interested in discovering what becomes possible when we remain open, present, and willing to explore.

For me, this is the essence of inner alchemy—not replacing one truth with another, but allowing awareness itself to transform how we see.

A New Offering Coming Soon

As I continue studying and integrating this perspective, I am developing a new True Sidereal Human Design Report and reading format that explores both Tropical and True Sidereal charts.

My intention is not to tell clients which system to believe, but rather to create a space for exploration, reflection, and meaningful dialogue.

If you are curious about how your chart changes through the lens of True Sidereal Human Design, I am currently offering:

🌿 Returning ClientsTrue Sidereal Exploration Session — $108

🌿 New ClientsFull Human Design Reading — $222

These sessions are offered via Zoom and include time to compare charts, reflect on what resonates, and explore the possibilities together.

Each chart requires thoughtful preparation, contemplation, and conversation.

Your curiosity, participation, and lived experience are an important part of the process.

If you've ever wondered what another perspective might reveal about your design, I would be honored to explore it with you.

After all, Human Design is ultimately a tool for self-awareness.

And sometimes a different lens helps us see ourselves in an entirely new way.

✨ With curiosity,

Erika Indrani Hawley
